An Extremely Short History of the Concept of Smart Cities, a discussion of big, and and open, Data’s Role in Connected Society; and finally What Is Being Done to Protect the Limited Privacy We Already Have?

EJ is a recent graduate of the Smart and Sustainable Cities program which is a joint degree program between the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Staffordshire University in the UK. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in History from Samford University, holds an MDiv, an MA in Intercultural Studies.

EJ is a Business Development Leader at the Foresite Group in their Network Design Division based in Birmingham, AL . He has over 20 years of GIS experience in the IT Tech Support, Defense/ Intelligence, Oil/ Gas and Broadband industries. He is an Alabama native, but has also lived in the West and the Southwestern United States. His favorite subjects are East/ Southeast Asian History and World Religions. He is a guitar player and plays in a local Irish Music Session in Birmingham.
